How to install HomePod 17 Beta Software

Install the HomePod 17 Beta software using the beta profile to bring new features to your smart home.

In order to install the HomePod Beta Software, you will first need to enroll the iPhone/iPad paired to your HomePod in the iOS/iPadOS beta and update to the latest iOS 17 beta or iPadOS 17 beta.

Please note HomePod cannot be restored to previously-released OS versions once the beta is installed.

HomePod 17 Software is compatible with the following devices:

  • HomePod mini
  • HomePod (2nd generation)

Install beta profile

  • Visit this page on the device paired with your HomePod, then tap on the Install Profile button below.
  • Tap Allow.
  • Tap on Install in the top right corner, then select the room where your HomePod is located.

Update your HomePod speaker

  • Open the Home app.
  • Press and hold on your HomePod speaker, then select "Accessory Details" or go to Home App > Home Settings > Software Update.

Provide Feedback

Once the beta is installed, it will come with a built-in Feedback Assistant app, which can be launched from the second page of your Home screen. When you come across an issue that needs addressing, send your feedback to Apple with Feedback Assistant.

Enroll your iOS or iPadOS device

Your iPhone or iPad will need to be running the iOS 17 beta or iPadOS 17 beta.


Turn on Beta Updates

From a device running iOS or iPadOS 17, go to the Home app > Home Settings > Software Update > HomePod Beta Updates and enroll the HomePod mini or HomePod (2nd generation) you want on the Beta program.

Update your HomePod speaker

Your HomePod mini or HomePod (2nd generation) will automatically receive the latest beta software if you have Automatically Update turned on in the Software Updates settings. To manually check for updates, go to Home app > Home Settings > Software Update.


Submitting Feedback

In order to submit HomePod feedback, you will need the Feedback Assistant app, which you can access from a beta version of iOS, iPadOS or macOS device.

You can launch Feedback Assistant from the second page of your Home screen on the iOS and iPadOS beta and from the Dock on the macOS beta.
